The two nations recently held high-level talks during Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Pakistan in October 2026. The discussions resulted in 20 agreements aimed at expanding cooperation in several important fields.

Shah Abdul Latif University  (SALU) in Khairpur has taken major action against irregularities in legal education by cancelling the academic records of 1,184 LLB candidates after an investigation uncovered unauthorized entries in the university's examination system.

The discussions indicate growing European interest in attracting qualified Pakistani workers through regulated migration channels. However, no new EU-wide work visa scheme or automatic visa approval policy was announced.
